This Theotokos project is conceived and drawn from my childhood experience. A little reproduction of the Theotokos of Vladimir had hung on the wall over my bed. The icon never ceased to amaze me although I plastered the walls with posters of rock'n'roll stars as a teenager. Many years have followed and the icon’s inimitable and powerful gaze still captures my awe and imagination. The THEOTOKOS project will capture the imagination of the public, create a new social dialogue and shift the perceptions of the viewer.

THEODOKOS might be considered an iconoclastic vision that shatters traditional and conventional rules of the art of icon because such a digital facelift to the Vladimirskaya may never have been attempted before on this large-scale level. New York City has always been attractive to me because it represents the epicenter of the world, whereby, all peoples of diverse cultures around the globe come and leave behind their old way of life and try to create a new one.
